(CNN) – Since the widespread availability of Covit-19 vaccines, there has been a significant difference in mortality between vaccinated and unvaccinated. But recent coward deaths have become more widespread due to more contagious variations, reduced vaccine protection and the cessation of booster shots.
Post-vaccination infections have become more common in recent months, with the spread of highly contagious variants increasing the risk of serious illness or death in vulnerable populations. This seems especially true for the elderly in the United States who are among the first to receive an early vaccination schedule.
In the second half of September, the delta variant of the corona virus novel peaked, with less than a quarter of all Govt-19 deaths among vaccinated populations, federal data show. But in January and February, amid a wave created by the Omigran variant, more than 40% of deaths from Kovit-19 occurred among vaccinated populations.
Covid-19 vaccines have saved millions of lives in the United States since the first dose was given in December 2020, and those who have not been vaccinated are still more likely to be hospitalized or die than those who have been vaccinated with at least two doses of moderna or vaccine. A single dose of Pfizer / BioNTech mRNA vaccine or Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
However, evidence of the vital importance of booster shots continues to accumulate.
According to a CNN analysis of data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, less than a third of those who died of Govt-19 in January and February received booster shots. Overall, according to CDC data, the risk of dying from Covit-19 is five times higher in unvaccinated individuals than in those with at least the initial vaccination schedule.
But there is also a significant disparity in vaccine levels: with age, those who are vaccinated, who are vaccinated only in their early stages, are three times more likely to die than those who receive a booster dose.
The CDC urges people to be “updated” on the Covit-19 vaccine, including getting boosters in a timely manner, but defines a person as “fully vaccinated” if they have already received at least the initial vaccine.
But this week, a senior Biden executive is very straightforward: all adults need a booster dose.
The best way is to get vaccinated against Govt-19, and protection with at least three vaccines will be most effective, the official said.
Others have emphasized the importance of backup to save lives.
Dr. Robert Khalif, commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States, said Saturday that “no one in this country should die of gonorrhea with renewed vaccines and appropriate antiviral treatments.” English), on the CNN Newsroom.
“What we really need to worry about is getting the reinforcements we need constantly, so with the new variations we have, there are no more unwanted deaths and no hospital admissions.”
Boosters benefit high-risk seniors
In the first year of infection, prior to the availability of vaccines, most deaths from Kovit-19, more than 80%, occurred in people over 65 years of age.
In 2021, especially during the Delta uprising, the average age of death from Kovit-19 was shifted to the lower age limit. According to the CDC’s provisional data, less than 60% of those who died in September were 65 or older.
But 2022 is like 2020 and the first wave of winter; So far this year, three-quarters of all Govt-19 deaths are among the elderly.
Studies show that the effectiveness of the Covit-19 vaccine decreases over time. The CDC data, Released in January, the vaccine was 90% effective in preventing hospital admissions during a period dominated by Omigran. In comparison, at least six months after the second shot, getting two shots was 57% effective.
Most seniors completed their initial vaccination schedule less than a year ago. Although acceptance of booster doses among the elderly is higher than that of other ages, less than two-thirds of the elderly receive the booster dose.
The CDC now recommends a second booster dose for this age group, and acceptance is even lower.
CNN’s analysis of CDC data over the past few months shows that the risk differences between vaccinated individuals are significantly higher among these vulnerable age groups compared to those receiving their early schedule.
Covit-19 deaths are preventable
In the midst of a wave of omigran variation the daily deaths from Govit-19 in the United States are only a fraction lower than they were in January and February, but hundreds of people die every day.
Cases are now on the rise in almost every state, and the White House has warned that another upsurge could occur this coming fall and winter 100 million new casesIncreases the likelihood of more serious illness and tragic loss.
But experts say we have the tools to ensure that infections do not turn into a tragedy.
Dr Peter Marks, director of the FDA’s Center for Biological Assessment and Research, said on Monday that vaccinating more Americans against Govt-19 would make a big difference.
“It’s important to try to get a little more than half or half of the Americans who only received two doses to get that third dose,” he said. “It could make a difference going forward, especially since we’re going to another wave of Covit-19 right now.”
